Anonymous asked: Ever since I was a Kid all I ever wanted to be was a ballerina but my parents didnt support me on that one and now I'm a 13 years old I think I'm too old to learn ballet, since I heard that most of the peole who dance ballet get their pointes at the age of 12 or 13. please help me I really feel so hopeless.

NO NO NO NO NO

You are never too old to dance and you are never to old to learn ballet.

I started ballet at 15 and got my pointes at 18!

If you really want to learn ballet, these are the things you’re going to need (and these are absolute must haves):

  • ability to listen
  • practice
  • persevere
  • passion

You need to cling onto every word your dance teacher says, practice the hell out of yourself, never give up and to do all these things you’ll need passion.

Let your parents know that this is something you really want to do. Beg them (this falls into the passion and perseverance bit).

Don’t feel hopeless. Get on google and start googling local dance schools. Match up your timetable to theirs - see what classes are avaliable. Look up the fees and things you’ll need (most dance schools will let you do a couple of trial classes wearing socks and leggings). Call up schools - ask them about their classes, and what they’d recommend for you. Get on youtube; learn of other’s experiences. Show your parents that you are committed and know your stuff. (If the reason they don’t want you to dance is academics - the fact that you do something other than sit in your room and study 24/7 looks great to potential colleges/employers - trust me).

If you are going to do anything; stop feeling hopeless. Dance has no limitations. Anyone can do it.

r-efaire asked: All the days I cry because I just want to fulfill my dream, but I can't. My parents give me illusions, ilussions that i less than a second breaks. and that's when I realize that despite everything, I still dreaming, I still believe that there is still hope, because hope is something that still lives in me.
I wanna be a ballerina, this is my dream but my parents don't understand me and don't give me support, I'm so frustrated and sad, I really want to practice ballet and I don't know what to do to convince my parents
I want to study medicine, but also want to study ballet, anyway I still have two years to enter college and I will graduate high school with fifteen years old (in my country normally you graduate to the high school with 17 years old and the next is go to the college), but they believe that the ballet will not do anything, think it's a waste of time . I thought that I can study these two years and then pause the ballet studio to enter medicine and when finished continue with ballet or even try to study medicine and ballet at the same time but I think the latter option is more difficult because they are two things where you have to give up your life

Ps: I don't speak English so well so I hope you can understand me,I love your tumblr and I hope you can advise me, ily<3

I know how you feel. My parents don’t support me either and believe academics is far more important.

You just have to realise what you want to do. Realise that it’s your life and you’re going to have to live it out and not them. If you have enough passion and love for ballet that’s all that should matter.

And trust me, you can totally do college and ballet at the same time. You just have to have motivation and passion for both! At times you may have to comprise, but hey, life is hard.
