Anonymous asked: What careers involve dance? besides being a teacher or with a ballet company.
teenagesupervillain asked: I'm sad. So You Think You Can Dance Canada got canceled days ago. This season was so full of talent I was sure it would have another season but not enough people trusted old seasons to watch, so ratings dropped. I even met the judge Jean-Marc Généreux and his wife France Mousseau who helps with the final auditions earlier this month and they got me encouraged and excited to try...
dilkedhadkhan asked: for the high school senior that wants to major in dance, i live in california and i go to a california university. the dance department at UC Riverside, where I go, is really experimental, and I know that UC Irvine is more traditional. there's lots of UC's that have different dance departments, also most privates will too. call advisors and ask them, make sure you call about the dance...

nameinbullets reblogged your photoblock
I know a few dancers who hate the smell of hairspray. They actually use their own mousse creation to keep their hair in…
I actually find mousse easier to use when making a bun. But I like to hairspray the final product :)

Pace University commercial dance major
To the anon who wanted to know about programs for back-up dancing…I assume (s)he meant like music video/commercial/broadway dancer programs as opposed to programs prepping you for dance/ballet companies. I just read about this new one at Pace University that might be of interest: http://dance-teacher.com/content/news-keeping-pace-commercial-world

runaroundstarkid asked: I have a really long second toe, which means in my pointe shoes all of my weight is put on that toe, which gets bent over and smushed in my box. Any suggestions? I had this one idea to put a piece of cotton in front of my big toe so that the height is evened out.
rlyattractive asked: what are some other good dance tumblrs? c:

bootsonconcrete asked: To both of those anons: The career of a back up dancer is not a very long or lucrative one. Like the girl said above, shoot for the stars, do something worth your while. And going to school for dance, IS worth it. There's always room for growth. If you're off the charts amazing, apply to Marymount Manhatten, NYU Tisch. Some really good colleges I know of, CSU Long Beach, San Francisco...
Anonymous asked: To the anon, why do you want to become a back-up dancer? Shoot for the stars! Be a Principal Dancer :)

Anonymous asked: Do you know any tips for relaxing your muscles after dancing? I'm not a professional dancer, nor do I dance as hard core as most of the people who follow your blog. ^^;; I take ballet as a P.E at my school. I just started again after an entire summer of sitting on my butt. Any tips?
junglesofconcrete asked: do you agree that dancers are stronger than hockey players ? theyre more flexible and professional dancers are stronger with doing lifts and all ! if so, then can anyone who thinks this please like this post/answered question so that i can msg you the link to a facebook question that my friend put up ! she thinks hockey players are stronger and i say no !

noneoflifesstringscanlast-deact asked: To the person asking about novels, if you haven't read this one then it's a real classic. 'Ballet Shoes' by Noel Streatfeild, and you could also watch the movie as well which was really nice with Emma Watson playing Pauline :)

justadistantdreamer asked: To the person who was asking about universities with good dance programs. I suggest ordering a copy of Dance Magazine's College Guide. It has listings and details on dance programs across the country, as well as information on how to better prepare yourself for auditions, financial aid, and what to expect once you're accepted. I believe the new issue is released in December or January.
