Anonymous asked: I'm so frustrated. I've been dancing for five years and I still don't have flexibility down. Right when it started comic to me about three months ago, I pulled my hamstring on my left leg. Like the fact that I am so tight and inflexible brings me down. Like it's such a struggle for me. It makes me feel like such a shitty dancer in videos when my tilt looks so low and it was so...

yournameinstone asked: I have just taken up dance once again, I couldn't stay away you know?
I talk about it all the time, its all I do *besides singing and song writing), but it's like none of my friends get the attraction. They giggle and exchange looks when I lose myself in the music. Why is everyone so afraid to just let go of control for a while?
Let the music speak to you....i don't...

littlegracierice-deactivated201 asked: i saw a post about someone feeling uncomfortable at their dance studio--here is MY advice...EVERYONE is uncomfortable at first. I don't think ANYONE walks in thinking they are going to magically become part of an already made family. (because that's what a dance studio is---a highly trained and beautifully moving family) SO my advice? Show them why you dance. Show them HOW you dance. Be...

thisdancerknits asked: Saw a post about being too old to dance. You're never too old to dance! I'm in my mid thirties and I danced consistently from age 4 to age 27. In the past eight years I've gone months without dancing and I've gone years without dancing and whenever I go back to it, I'm able to dance. It's like riding a bike. ;) Never be discouraged by age. Dance for YOU. That's...

but there is a difference! splits hurt when not stretched out- i can still do them but i’d ratha be warm.
Some people can go into the splits straight away. No warm up needed. Any time of the day. Anywhere. To them doing the splits is their warm up. I guess this kind of fades with age :(

jumpinginto-theunknown asked: To the anon who said she was too old to start ballet, you're never too old! I gave up ballet when I was 11 after going through exams and intense classes for 5 years. I got back into this year (I just turned 21) and I love it. I'm still catching up on technique missed over the years but I am having so much fun. It's never too late if it's something you really enjoy.

xdrichie asked: As a dancer, I sometimes get insecure about my height and stuff... so I'm like the lanky dancer of my dance crew and tend to bounce a lot. My choreographer is good with choreographing, but very bad when it comes to giving advice on how to get better, we usually do that on our own and have to find our own way. Do you know any tips or ways to get this under control?

dancinganddemons asked: To the anon who thought they were to old to learn ballet, I gave up ballet when I was 6 and really regretted it later, so I started dancing again at 14 (just over a year ago) and I'm going on pointe next winter! As long as you're prepared to work hard for it you'll make it, good luck! x

pygmy-me asked: Have you ever felt unwelcome at your dance school by fellow students? That's how I feel. I mean I knew that at some point there would be competition, but it makes me uncomfortable. I get intimidated easily so when I'm dancing and I see them giving me looks it takes all the happiness and joy out of what I love. I also got new teachers and they're not great at teaching. I mean with my...

r-efaire asked: All the days I cry because I just want to fulfill my dream, but I can't. My parents give me illusions, ilussions that i less than a second breaks. and that's when I realize that despite everything, I still dreaming, I still believe that there is still hope, because hope is something that still lives in me.

maddietait replied to your post: Can you recommend some good dance(especially ballet) movies/documentarys? :)
Can’t believe you haven’t suggested any classics. Singin’ in the rain? West Side Story? White Christmas? Cabaret? Grease?
Never watched them :) But now that you suggest them, will definitely youtube them!

onwelive-deactivated20120825 asked: To the person who broke their foot, I am a ballet dancer, age 16. I went en pointe' aged 11. When I was 14 I was in an accident and my foot and ankle were shattered.. I was in plaster for just under three months, and have a brace on for 7 months after that. I am back en' pointe, after long tedious training, and dance for a company. It isn't easy, but it is possible. Keep your chin...

koolkidwithak-deactivated201211 asked: To the anon that broke her foot: I once read something in a dance magazine about a professional who hurt her leg or foot and with a bunch of different exercises and technique stuff she was able to go back on pointe. And the Dr.'s had said she'd never be able to do pointe again. It took a long time but she did it. I don't know what happened to your foot exactly but maybe you could...
